I was born and raised in Honolulu, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. I am currently going into my last semester as an undergraduate pursuing a double major Bachelor’s degree in Hawaiian Studies and Hawaiian Language at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Research is important because it allows us to tap into the knowledge of our kūpuna (ancestors). Many things that we know today are from doing research. Our kūpuna left us multitudes of documents that have yet to be reviewed and understood, we owe it to them to learn to continue their efforts of restoring and revitalizing our language and culture.
